Privacy Policy

Last updated 14 June 2026

This policy explains what personal information Chris Builder collects when you request a quote or get in touch, why we collect it, how it is used and the rights you have over it. We only ever use your details to respond to your enquiry — we never sell your data.

01 Who we are

Chris Builder is a building, renovation and property-maintenance business serving Nuneaton & surrounding areas. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we are the “data controller” responsible for your personal information.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, you can reach us using the details below.

02 The information we collect

We only collect what we need to understand your job and reply to you. Depending on how you contact us, this may include:

  • Details you give us in the quote form— your name, email address, phone number, property postcode, the service you need, your preferred way to be contacted and the description of the work.
  • Photos you choose to upload or send us, so we can understand the job and prepare an accurate quote.
  • Anything you tell us directly— if you call, email or message us on WhatsApp, we keep what you choose to share so we can help.
  • Basic technical data— our website host automatically logs limited information (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the site secure and working. This is not used to identify you personally.

You do not have to give us every field — only your name, email and a description are needed to reply. Please don’t send us sensitive information (such as health or financial details) through the form.

03 How we use it, and our legal basis

We use your information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and prepare a free, no-obligation quote;
  • arrange a visit and discuss the work with you;
  • carry out and manage any work you ask us to do; and
  • keep proper business records, including for invoicing, tax and insurance.

Our lawful bases for processing under the UK GDPR are:

  • Taking steps at your request before entering a contract— responding to your quote request and discussing the job.
  • Performance of a contract— where you go ahead and we carry out work for you.
  • Our legitimate interests— running and protecting our business and replying to enquiries, balanced against your rights.
  • Legal obligation— keeping financial records for the period the law requires.

We do not send marketing or use automated decision-making or profiling. We will only contact you about your enquiry or work, unless you ask us to do otherwise.

04 Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We share it only where necessary to run the business and reply to you, with trusted providers acting on our behalf:

  • Netlify— hosts this website and processes quote-form submissions so they reach our inbox.
  • Microsoft— provides our email (Hotmail/Outlook) where we receive and store your enquiry.
  • WhatsApp (Meta)— if you choose to message us there, your message is handled under WhatsApp’s own privacy terms.
  • Suppliers or sub-contractors— only where needed to carry out your job, and only the details required.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, property or safety. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, your information stays protected by appropriate safeguards (such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses).

05 How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as we need it. Enquiries that don’t lead to work are normally deleted within 12 months. If you become a customer, we keep records relating to the work and our finances for up to 6 years, to meet tax and legal obligations. After that, we securely delete them.

06Cookies & tracking

This website does not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and we don’t track you across other sites. Because we only use strictly necessary technology to deliver and secure the site, no cookie banner is needed. Our hosting provider may set essential cookies required for security and performance.

07 How we protect your information

The site is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection, and we use reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your information safe. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take care to protect what you send us and to limit who can access it.

08 Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate information corrected;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • restrict or object to how we use it;
  • ask us to transfer it to another provider; and
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

To exercise any of these, just email us at chris_builder@hotmail.com. We’ll respond within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113. We’d appreciate the chance to put things right first, so please do get in touch with us.

09 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised “last updated” date above.
